New toolkit helps dancers stay in motion
Pentacle remains dedicated to continuing to provide a high level of support to artists during these extraordinary circumstances. Alongside many other key and respected organizations in the field, we have begun accumulating and curating resources for artists and organizations experiencing income loss and other troubles as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Keeping dancers in motion. It is important to Pentacle to support and recognize other organizations providing emergency relief. While we are able to provide arts relief administratively, we know that many folks need more personal support as well. This week we are featuring a new website dedicated to helping the dance community reopen in the New York City area.
New website considers how dance can reopen in NYC
The new website, Reopening Dance in NYC, offers a digital toolkit to help guide reopening plans for the dance community in the metro NYC area – as well as Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties. The website is coordinated by Dance/NYC and Gibney – and gathers information from a range of collaborators to develop a set of reopening recommendations.
Resources for reopening dance
In addition to sound advice about how to consider reopening dance activities, the website offers links to resources and information from the State of New York, the CDC, and the WHO, as well as expert guidance about operations, ventilation, and sanitation.
The goal is to communicate broadly with the 500% nonprofit dance companies and for profit dance businesses, 1,200+ dance-making entities, and 5,000+ independent dance workers who live and create in the metro NYC area. The website targets only adults over 18, and each organization and individual is responsible for making their own informed decision about how to move forward during the pandemic.
